Meet the line up:

Sarah Wong (moderator) CPA, CA

It’s a known fact – Sarah loves numbers. Striving to move away from being a typical “bean counter”, Sarah finds joy in turning data and numbers into meaningful information used for business and strategic decisions. Having previously worked in public practice for KPMG, Sarah now works with the Vancouver International Airport building financial models and projections for the concession program. As a side hustle, Sarah loves working with entrepreneurs to make better sense of the accounting & tax world.

Elizabeth Mah, Paperclip Law

Elizabeth is the founder and owner of Paperclip Law, a different kind of law firm focused on delivering personal and business help in a way that clients end up loving working with their lawyer, not the opposite. She took her experiences in department stores, restaurant chains, luxury hotels and in different offices around Western Canada, added it to her business and law schooling, plus a bit of her disruptor Aries personality and created a company that is just the type of place she would want to work and hire for herself.

Natasha Neale, Founder Little Mountain Shop

Born and raised in Vancouver, Natasha Neale has always kept a finger to the pulse of the city. A natural next step in her career, her most recent venture focuses on creating a space for pop-ups; whether for retail, workshops or special events, Little Mountain Shop offers a space for creating unique experiences.

Before opening a brick-and-mortar for short-term rentals, Natasha was the Digital Marketing and Online Editor for ION Magazine; a merchandiser for Canadian fashion retailer, Aritzia; and worked as a publicist and event planner for a variety of designers, artists, and organizations.

Natasha is passionate about community building, whether it’s hosting a rotating roster of branded pop-ups or attending community events in the city. When not at the pop-up space, you can find Natasha and her Shiba Inu, Ryu, walking around Mount Pleasant.

Danny Loo, CPA, CA, DMCL

Danny believes accounting and tax can be fun as well. He is very passionate about working with creative entrepreneurs across all industries because there is a powerful underlying story beneath every business. He hopes to put away the myth that accountants are boring bean counters and introduce a modern concept of “Accountants”. Yes, you do count but given the complexity of the business world, just accounting is not enough. Qualified accountants are equipped with strong financial literacy and can be a game changer for businesses. At times, we are virtual CFOs for our clients or sometimes a valuator or tax expert for our client’s businesses. Yes, we also wear more than one hat. Danny sees that success in his work is when his clients’ business succeeds and grows to its potential while keeping taxes in check and stakeholders happy.

Danny is an avid nerd who holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and is currently pursuing his Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) designation.  He is currently with DMCL CPA, a large mid-size accounting firm. Prior to joining DMCL, Danny was a Senior Manager with KPMG LLP’s private enterprise practice.  He is no stranger to working with private companies and knows that this is the bread and butter of our local economy.

Chris Chen and Edwin Hoy, RBC

Chris Chen currently manages more than 200 small to medium size local businessesat RBC Business Banking.  He previously worked as an credit analyst in Scotiabank Commercial Financial Services supporting up to 300 medium to large size businesses throughout Greater Vancouver.  Prior to embarking his finance career, Chris has lived and worked in different countries that include leading a restaurant from setup to management, leading the sales team of an education start-up in Singapore and working as a marketing and business development executive for a manufacturer in China.  Chris is well informed of the potential trends, opportunities and threats of today’s global business environment.

Chris professional experience is complemented with a degree with Honors in Economics and a minor in Commerce from the University of British Columbia. In 2013, he went on to complete an emerging markets management and marketing program with the London School of Economics, UK. Chris has also represented his alma mater UBC as a finance delegate for the Harvard Project in Asian International Relations held annually in Harvard University.

He is looking forward to working with you and providing you and your company with the financial expertise and solutions that will ensure continued growth and success of your business.
